Jane, this is great, and it really speaks to me as, during the pandemic, I turned to skiing and backcountry skiing with passion and determination. It’s what kept me sane. When we couldn’t move much outside our homes, we could really go places in the mountains. And when we couldn’t control much, as you say, we could control planning, preparation, gear! Thank you for writing this underneath-it-all poignant piece.

Thank you for sharing Jane. My summits of Mt Washington, with my cousin, then my boys, then my nephew, are such important moments in my life. So glad to hear of your joy. Also very much appreciate your sharing about your dad.

This is so cool. I know hiking and walking are different, but I have trouble walking anywhere without a specific purpose. I love that you're able to make the activity a purpose in and of itself. I envy the gear! Always fun to have good gear.

Great ramble. I totally scrutinized the gear stash. You have a spot?! That's a cue for some serious backcountry hiking. Take me with you! xo

The offer to hike the Adirondacks remains open. I'm saving all my dirty chai latte packets for you (I don't like that stuff).
