I used to have a number of beautiful fans that I bought when I was studying in Spain during college. They decorated the walls of apartments over the years, and made me feel worldly. more recently, I have been hiding in air-conditioned spaces, or I head to the coast for a fresh breeze. But I really like the idea of resurrecting this simple solution! Plus, it has the benefit of making one look worldly, and (perhaps) seductive?
yes yes yes--fans a perfect for hot flashes, I have one given to me by a friend for just that purpose and it has saved me so often! Reminds me I need to start carrying it again, even though the flashes are finally less frequent (some 20 years later.....)
At a certain point in my life (and you can, ahem, guess when), my best friend who is exactly my age presented us both with folding fans to keep with us at all times. Let's just say they proved useful!
I bought a pretty fan in Vienna a few summers ago. A lot of public transit in Austria has no air conditioning, and almost every lady our age uses one. Thanks for the reminder to throw it in my bag for this weekend!
