Hello! My name is Jane Roper and I write about being a writer, (middle)aging, failing at mindfulness, having too much tupperware, confronting mortality, and whatever else pops into my small head.
I’m the author of a couple of books, including THE SOCIETY OF SHAME, which was a finalist for the Thurber Prize in American Humor, plus a bunch of personal essays and some crappy short stories. I’ve been blogging since the first time it was cool, way back in the early 2000s. Now it’s called having a Substack. And is maybe cool? I don’t know!
I also have a day job, doing advertising/marketing writing, because, contrary to popular belief, being an author doesn’t pay much.
Thank you so much for subscribing and reading. I’m glad you’re here.
