Mwah! And I hereby decree Musk (oh, wait--he's not the prez?) his assistant, the wanna-be Adolf, and all the tech bros ordered to read and report on The Reverend Marian Edgar Budde's book, HOW WE LEARN TO BE BRAVE: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith, followed by writing a 700-page report, to be graded by AOC and the ghost of President Carter.

Since my last name is Waters, does this mean I am now Heather Buttered Toasts? As someone who loves butter and buttered toast, I'm down.

Also, a friend wrote this and said I could share:

A reminder that trans and nonbinary people have always existed. This is not a fad, a trend, a conspiracy, or whatever else this administration and its toadies are telling us.

Should any of my connections feel differently - welp, you can eff off into the sun, or you can read up on the following:

Machi (Chile and Argentina)

Travesti (South America)

Ashtime (Ethiopia)

Hijra (South Asia) (My edit: Joni Mitchell has a record called Hejira, which she took from the Arabic word Hijrah (Hegira) which means exodus. I like the idea of exiting from terms that don't fit who you are.)

Wakatane (New Zealand)

Mahu (Hawaii)

Winkte (Lakota)

Hwame (Mojave)

Ask yourselves why our country, outside of tribal trust lands, doesn’t recognize other genders. Because it’s very much tied into suppression and destruction of indigenous culture. If we don’t have the terms and history, then we have no way of knowing that there are different ways of being.

Except that now we do. And that’s not acceptable. We’ll hear that this is about protecting women and children. It isn’t. It’s about continuing to crush anything that doesn’t fit into an outdated ideology.

The cruelty is the point. It’s why that guy (my edit) specifically brought it up yesterday.

Nonbinary people exist. They always have. The information is out there. You can learn about it, or remain willfully ignorant and silent. I know which side I’m on.
